01 Who We Are

JobLaunchSA is a free online career platform designed to help young South Africans find jobs, learnerships, internships, and career development resources. The platform is operated by NetCafe Tech.

For the purposes of POPIA (Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013), NetCafe Tech is the responsible party in respect of the personal information we process.

02 Information We Collect

Information you provide directly

• Account registration: Full name, email address, and password when you create an account.
• CV Builder: Personal details, work history, education, skills, and contact information you enter to build your CV. This data is processed in your browser and not stored on our servers unless you explicitly save it.
• Job applications: Information submitted when applying for jobs through our platform.
• Communications: Messages or feedback you send to us.

Information collected automatically

• Usage data: Pages visited, features used, time spent on the platform.
• Device information: Browser type, operating system, screen resolution.
• IP address: Used for security and analytics purposes.
• Cookies and similar technologies: See Section 5 for details.

03 How We Use Your Information

We use your personal information only for legitimate purposes, including:

• Creating and managing your JobLaunchSA account
• Providing access to job listings, learnerships, and career resources
• Sending you relevant job alerts and career tips (only if you opt in)
• Improving the platform based on how it is used
• Responding to your questions or support requests
• Preventing fraud and ensuring the security of the platform
• Complying with legal obligations

04 Sharing Your Information

We may share your personal information with the following parties, strictly for the purposes described:

• Supabase: Our authentication and database provider. Your account credentials and profile data are stored securely on Supabase's infrastructure.
• Vercel: Our serverless hosting provider, used to deliver the platform.
• Google Analytics: Anonymised usage statistics to help us improve the platform. No personally identifiable information is shared.
• Employers and recruiters: Only when you explicitly apply for a position or share your CV.
• Law enforcement or regulatory authorities: Only when required by law or to protect the rights and safety of our users.

All third-party service providers are required to process your information securely and only for the purposes we specify.

05 Cookies & Analytics

We use cookies and similar tracking technologies to provide and improve the platform. These include:

• Essential cookies: Required for the platform to function, including authentication sessions.
• Analytics cookies: Google Analytics helps us understand how the platform is used so we can improve it. Data is anonymised and aggregated.
• Preference cookies: Remember your settings and preferences.

You can control or disable cookies through your browser settings. Note that disabling essential cookies may prevent parts of the platform from functioning correctly.

JobLaunchSA does not use cookies for advertising or sell your browsing data to advertisers.

06 Your Rights Under POPIA

The Protection of Personal Information Act gives you the following rights in respect of your personal information:

• Right to access: Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
• Right to correction: Ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete information.
• Right to deletion: Request that we delete your personal information, subject to legal obligations.
• Right to object: Object to the processing of your personal information for direct marketing.
• Right to withdraw consent: Withdraw any consent you have given at any time.
• Right to complain: Lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa.

07 Data Security

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your personal information from unauthorised access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. These measures include:

• HTTPS encryption for all data transmission
• Secure, encrypted storage of passwords (passwords are hashed and never stored in plain text)
• Access controls limiting who can access personal data
• Regular security reviews of our platform and infrastructure

Despite our efforts, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. If you become aware of any security vulnerabilities, please contact us immediately at privacy@joblaunchsa.co.za.

08 Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the platform. Specifically:

• Account data: Retained for the duration of your account. You can delete your account at any time.
• CV data: Stored in your browser session only unless you save it to your account.
• Usage analytics: Retained in aggregated, anonymised form.
• Communications: Retained for up to 3 years for record-keeping purposes.

When you delete your account, we will delete or anonymise your personal information within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it by law.

09 Terms of Use

Acceptance

By using JobLaunchSA, you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, please do not use the platform.

Platform use

• JobLaunchSA is provided free of charge for personal, non-commercial use by job seekers.
• You must be at least 16 years old to create an account.
• You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure.
• You must not use the platform to post false, misleading, or fraudulent information.
• You must not attempt to scrape, copy, or reproduce job listings for commercial purposes.
• You must not interfere with the platform's operation or attempt to access it through unauthorised means.

Job listings

JobLaunchSA aggregates job listings from various sources. We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or currency of any listing. We are not responsible for the hiring decisions of any employer. Always verify the legitimacy of an employer before sharing personal information or making payments.

Intellectual property

All content on JobLaunchSA, including text, graphics, logos, and software, is the property of NetCafe Tech or its content providers and is protected by South African copyright law.

Limitation of liability

JobLaunchSA is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by South African law, NetCafe Tech shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the platform.

10 Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy and Terms of Use from time to time. When we make significant changes, we will notify registered users by email and update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.

Continued use of the platform after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
